I dislike the word rejection. It conjures up images of a squashed strawberry in the corner of the punnet. Someone’s trash is someone else’s treasure. My friend would throw the strawberry; I would use it in compote.


Stephen King faced thirty rejections for his debut novel ‘Carrie’ and gave up. But after much urging from his wife, he resubmitted and eventually accepted a $2,500 advance from Doubleday. A hundred books later, he’s become one of the best-selling authors of all time.
